VanDa is the Danmarks Miljøportals system for registering and processing data on surface water. The system is primarily used by authorities to record results from both chemical and biological studies of the aquatic environment, including lakes, streams, and marine areas. In addition, VanDa andloggers collect data on e.g. hydrometry and groundwater. Data from VanDa is used to monitor water quality and ensure that environmental standards are met.

What is VanDa?

VanDa is a system for registering environmental data related to surface water in Denmark. It covers a wide range of environmental data, such as chemical and biological measurements, carried out by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency as well as municipalities and regions.

NOTE: VanDa is a registration system. If you want to extract data from the Danish aquatic environment, you can visit Kemidata, Denmark's Areal information and Arealdata, which supports detailed data extraction on Denmark's surface water.

How can VanDa help you?

Authorities
Authorities can useVanDa to record and monitor water quality in their areas. Data can be used to prepare environmental reports and evaluate compliance with the legislation.

VanDa provides authorities with a tool to record and analyse data on everything from benthic fauna and water chemistry to fish surveys and biodiversity in the aquatic environment in Denmark. It ensures a systematic approach to environmental monitoring, and is an essential platform for the sustainable management of the country's water resources.

For example, municipalities can use VanDa to record results from water samples or biological studies in the local area and monitor changes in water quality over time.

Companies
Banedanmark uses VanDa to monitor water pollution from the discharge of rainwater from railway tracks and ensure that they do not adversely affect nearby water bodies.

For example, the Danish Road Directorate uses VanDa when a motorway is to be built that crosses a watercourse. VanDa can be used to monitor chemical and biological parameters in the water both before, during and after construction to ensure that the construction does not harm the aquatic environment.
