Five new datasets from TRANSFORM, which will help the green land conversion, are now available in the data store at the Danish Environmental Portal

Danmarks Miljøportal l is now making five new research-based potential maps available. The maps have been developed in the national research and innovation project TRANSFORM, and will help decision-makers find the most suitable areas to convert in connection with the green tripartite agreement.

Based on selected datasets, the maps that have just become available provide an estimate of where there is the greatest potential for reducing nitrogen emissions, reducing CO₂ from lowland soils, protecting drinking water, establishing new nature, or setting aside areas with low cultivation value.

"The potential maps show both where there is the greatest potential in setting aside current agricultural areas to meet other area interests and where the areas can serve several functions at once," says Erling Andersen, senior adviser at the University of Copenhagen and in the TRANSFORM project.

TRANSFORM is a broad collaboration between universities and innovation companies, public authorities, consultants and businesses that will support a sustainable transformation of the Danish landscapes.

The potential maps are also intended to make it easier to coordinate efforts across municipal boundaries and disciplines, and are designed to be able to be compared so that synergies and conflicts can be spotted before specific area projects are planned. They can be served by everyone, so that landowners, farmers or curious citizens, for example, can gain insight into their local area.

Danmarks Miljøportal has collaborated with the University of Copenhagen to make the maps accessible.

"This is a good example of how we can help make research data accessible and specifically usable for planners and authorities in a situation where there is a high demand for it," says Inga Marie Galløe, project manager at Danmarks Miljøportal.

The project is based on a Living Lab approach, where solutions are developed and tested in practice in three municipalities in collaboration with local actors, and is funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and 15. Juni Fonden. The maps are available via Danmarks Miljøportal's so-called 'data store', which can be accessed via a wide range of the Environmental Portal's systems, e.g. Synergikort and Danmarks Arealinformation

A map of potential nitrogen emissions from fields is now available on Danmarks Miljøportal

26/11 - 2025

The field discharge map, which has been prepared by SEGES Innovation for the Danish Agriculture & Food Council, is now freely available via the Danmarks Miljøportal. The map potentially provides a more accurate picture of nitrogen emissions, and strengthens the knowledge base in the work with targeted nitrogen initiatives in the green tripartites.
