Artsdata beta

What is Artsdata beta?

Artsdata is a digital platform providing users access to species data in the wet nature in Denmark. The platform enables users to filter species observations for fish, benthic animals, plankton and plants based on data registered in VanDa. Users also have the option to filter results by geographic, data owner, location owner, date, and sampling location. The data can easily be exported for further analysis in CSV format, which makes Artsdata a user-friendly platform for authorities, researchers and consultants. In addition, Artsdata has a direct entrance to Kemidata, where it is possible to search and filter data for chemical parameters and environmental studies in the Danish aquatic environment.

In the second version of Artsdata, it will be possible to search and filter in species as well as nature surveys in the 'dry' nature of Denmark. Artsdata is an upgraded version of Naturdata and will eventually replace the system.

The upgrade of Artsdata is part of the project Den Store Brugerrejse.

How can Artsdata help you? 

For authorities and municipalities
Species data allows public institutions to get a quick overview of species observations in a given area. Municipalities and regions can use the data to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and to monitor the impact of their environmental protection efforts. For example, a municipality can use Artsdata to investigate the biodiversity in the local watercourse over time, and from there form well-documented decision-making data to ensure a biodiversity future. 

For researchers and research institutions 
Researchers can use the platform to retrieve data on species in the Danish aquatic environment. Artsdata offers access to a comprehensive dataset that can be used for environmental research and analysis of species diversity over time. A researcher can use Artsdata to analyse how the diversity of specific species in lakes has changed over the past 10 years. 

For consultants and environmental specialists
Environmental consultants can use Artsdata to retrieve the latest results on species observations and use this data to advise companies and public bodies on environmental considerations in their projects. Data from Artsdata can be used to assess the potential for pollution in connection with a construction project at a watercourse and prepare a risk assessment.
