Danmarks Miljøportal is now launching Synergikort - a new digital platform that provides inspiration for planning and makes it easier to find the most suitable areas for area initiatives in Denmark.
Danmarks Miljøportal, 2 July 2025
There is increasing competition for land in Denmark - a competition intensified by political goals to maintain the country’s agricultural profile while simultaneously reducing greenhouse gases, protecting drinking water, restoring nature, planting forests, cutting nitrogen emissions, and adapting to climate change.
In the report Denmark's Future Land Use (2024), the Danish Council on Climate Change pointed to a large number of considerations that need to be balanced and made analyses for the entire country. But locally, it has so far been difficult to compare the many area interests, this will now be possible with the new Synergikort.
Synergikort have been developed as a dynamic tool that can serve as inspiration in the area planning, screening of areas and the dialogue between decision-makers and professionals in the planning of land use. The platform is based on a multi-criteria analysis, where the user can choose, weigh and combine layers of influence based on local considerations and priorities. It should be noted that the current version has been developed in just three months and development continues.
The first version of Synergikort is now available. It contains a selection of datasets and functions that can be used actively for inspiration for land use. Data in Synergikort in its current version should primarily be regarded as examples and should not be considered to be authoritative data. We therefore recommend using the card as a screening tool. Data are calculated on the basis of nationwide data and the calculation method is described in the documentation for the individual impact layers.
We are excited and curious about how users will respond to Synergikort. The initial comments we have received from authorities, researchers and potential users have been positive. Our ambition is to expand the tool into a central tool in future land-use planning, where we gradually expand with more data and make data more authoritative. We look forward to input from researchers, authorities and municipalities. The development of the first version of Synergikort is paid for by funds from Iværksætterfonden.
We welcome input on what can improve the system's user-friendliness in support@miljoeportal.dk
